Session description
Decarbonization is becoming one of the key challenges facing today's chemical, nitrogen and related industries. In the context of dynamic regulatory changes, the European Green Deal strategy and climate neutrality requirements, Polish companies in the chemical sector are faced with the question: is the decarbonization process an opportunity for them to innovate and develop, or is it associated with serious threats to their future and competitiveness?
Session objective
The main objective of this session is to provide an in-depth analysis of the impact of decarbonization processes on the Polish chemical and nitrogen industries, as well as to identify key technological and organizational challenges and risks. We want to create a space for the exchange of views between representatives of science, business and administration, in order to identify best practices and adaptation strategies.
Relevance to industry
Decarbonization is not only a matter of adapting to EU regulations, but also of competing in the global market. Effective management of CO₂ reduction processes. Lack of adequate preparation and investment can result in increased production costs, loss of competitiveness and threat to industry jobs.
Criticism of the decarbonization approach
The session will also address the controversy over the imposed decarbonization requirements, which many in the industry consider too stringent and disconnected from technological realities. The topic of the potential inadequacy of current infrastructure and the costs involved in investing in new technologies will be addressed. Critics point out that the pace of change may be too fast, threatening the financial stability of many companies and serious social consequences.
Expected outcomes
The session will allow participants to better understand the risks and opportunities associated with decarbonization. The final result is expected to be the development of recommendations for the effective implementation of emission reduction processes, taking into account local technological and economic conditions. The joint discussion will identify areas where additional support and innovation are needed, and develop a path for cooperation between the public and private sectors.
