CARBON-NEUTRAL TECHNOLOGIES

Innovation, collaboration, commercialisation - the road to a sustainable future and energy security

9.04.2025, Poznań, MTP, PCC, level 2, Earth Hall, stage 1

The ministerial session organised by the Ministry of Climate and Environment serves to exchange ideas on the needs and challenges of decarbonisation and innovation in the economies of EU Member States. It is also an excellent opportunity to present the achievements of the participants in the aforementioned fields. Join us for a conversation about carbon-neutral technologies at NetZero Energy.

Mario Draghi's report, published last year, indicates that one of the greatest challenges facing the European Union is how to successfully combine decarbonisation with maintaining industrial competitiveness and preserving the operational security of European economies. Achieving climate goals requires harmonisation of the EU's energy and climate policy and industrial policy. This should be done in such a way as to ensure a reduction in CO₂ emissions while maintaining global competitiveness and not leading to the deindustrialisation of Europe. This can be avoided, for example, by investing in the development of technologies for the decarbonisation of difficult sectors through investments in renewable energy, hydrogen including low- and zero-emission, CCS, CCUS.

The above challenges will be discussed in a ministerial session by representatives of EU Member States, European institutions and industry leaders. Speakers will also address EU industrial policy, the role of innovation and financial mechanisms to support the energy transition.

The ministerial session fits in with the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council by highlighting the importance of energy security in the energy transition process and the role of innovation in the decarbonisation of industry.
Moving away from fossil fuels not only brings the European Union closer to achieving its climate goals, but also strengthens its energy independence and economic resilience.

The conclusions of the debate will be summarised in a report with key recommendations for further EU action on industrial and climate policy.
