Balanced energy subsystems with hydrogen as a response to the challenges of Poland's energy transition

8.04.2025, Poznań, MTP, PCC, Level 2, Stage 2, Earth Hall B, 3:50-16:40 pm

Panel description

Dynamically changing geopolitical conditions, rising energy costs and the requirements of the EU climate policy make it necessary for Poland to undergo a profound energy transformation. In this context, solutions that integrate different energy carriers - including hydrogen - into balanced energy subsystems that combine security of supply with efficiency and emission reduction become particularly important. The panel, “Balanced energy subsystems with hydrogen as a response to the challenges of Poland's energy transition,” opens space for discussion of the role of local and regional energy subsystems, in which hydrogen - both green and low-carbon - plays a stabilizing and buffering role in systems based on renewable energy sources. Experts will look at integration technologies, energy management models, the role of storage and the need to adapt grid infrastructure.

Purpose of the panel

The purpose of the panel is to identify the potential and role of hydrogen in building resilient, flexible and decentralized energy systems that can form the foundation of a modern, low-carbon economy. Participants will discuss how hydrogen can be effectively combined with other energy technologies, present examples of integrated solutions at the local level, and discuss the regulatory, infrastructural and technological challenges of implementing such models in Poland.

Key issues

  • The role of hydrogen in balanced energy subsystems
  • Local and regional models for integrating RES and hydrogen
  • Energy storage using hydrogen
  • Transformation of grid infrastructure for hydrogen integration
  • Cross-sectoral coordination and the role of local governments in the energy transition
  • Challenges and opportunities for the implementation of energy subsystems with hydrogen in Poland
